1 Now, the Reubenites and Gadites owned very large herds of cattle. Having seen that the territories of Jazer and Gilead formed an ideal region for raising stock,
Num 21:32  Num 32:3  Num 32:35  1John 2:16  2Sam 24:5  Exod 12:38  Gen 13:2

2 the Gadites and Reubenites went to Moses, the priest Eleazar and the leaders of the community, and said to them,

3 'The territory of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon,
Isa 16:8-9  Jer 48:34  Josh 13:17  Num 32:34-38  Isa 15:2-4  Isa 15:6  Jer 48:2

4 which Yahweh has conquered before the advancing community of Israel, is ideal land for raising stock, and your servants are cattle breeders.
Num 21:34  Num 21:24  Deut 2:24-35

5 So', they said, 'if you approve, give your servants this land for us to own; do not make us cross the Jordan.'
1Sam 20:3  2Sam 14:22  Deut 1:37  Deut 3:25-26  Esth 5:2  Gen 19:19  Jer 31:2

6 Moses said to the Gadites and Reubenites, 'Do you intend your brothers to go into battle while you stay here?
1Cor 13:5  2Sam 11:11  Phil 2:4

7 Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing to the country which Yahweh has given them?
Acts 21:13  Deut 1:28  Num 13:27-4  Num 21:4  Num 32:9

8 Your fathers behaved in the same way when I sent them from Kadesh-Barnea to see the country,
Deut 1:19-25  Josh 14:6-7  Num 13:2-26  Num 14:2

9 for, having gone as far as the Valley of Eshcol and seen the country, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the country which Yahweh had given them.
Deut 1:24-28  Num 13:23-10

10 Hence Yahweh's anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath,
Num 14:11  Deut 1:34-40  Ezek 20:15  Heb 3:8-19  Num 14:21  Num 14:23  Num 14:29

11 "No man of twenty years and over, who left Egypt, shall set eyes on the country which I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob . . . , for they have not followed me absolutely,
Num 14:28-30  Deut 1:35  Deut 2:14-15  Josh 14:8-9  Num 14:24  Num 26:2  Num 26:64-65

12 except for Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua son of Nun: these indeed have followed Yahweh absolutely."
Deut 1:36  Num 14:24  Josh 14:8-9  Num 14:30  Num 26:65

13 Yahweh's anger being aroused by Israel, he made them wander in the desert for forty years, until the generation that offended Yahweh had all disappeared.
Num 14:33-35  1Cor 10:5  Deut 2:14-15  Heb 3:16-19  Num 26:64-65  Ps 78:33

14 And now you rise up in your father's place, offshoot of sinful stock, to increase Yahweh's burning anger with Israel even more!
Acts 7:51-52  Deut 1:34-35  Ezek 20:21  Ezra 9:13-14  Ezra 10:10  Gen 5:3  Gen 8:21

15 If you turn away from him, he will prolong the time spent in the desert, and you will bring about this entire people's ruin.'
2Chr 15:2  1Cor 8:11-12  2Chr 7:19-22  Deut 28:15-68  Deut 30:17-19  Jer 38:23  Josh 22:16-18

16 They came to Moses and said, 'We should like to build sheepfolds here for our flocks and towns for our little ones.
Gen 33:17  Num 34:22

17 We ourselves will take up arms and lead the Israelites until we have brought them to the place appointed for them, while our little ones stay in the fortified towns to be safe from the local inhabitants.
Josh 4:12-13  Deut 3:18-20  Num 32:29-32

18 We will not return to our homes until every one of the Israelites has taken possession of his heritage.
Josh 22:1-5

19 For we shall have no heritage with them on the other bank of the Jordan or beyond, since our heritage has fallen to us here, east of the Jordan.'
Josh 13:8  1Chr 5:25-26  2Kgs 10:32-33  2Kgs 15:29  Gen 13:10-12  Gen 14:12  Josh 1:14-15

20 Moses said to them, 'If you do as you have said, if you are prepared to fight before Yahweh,
Josh 4:12-13  Deut 3:18-20  Josh 1:13-15  Josh 22:2-4

21 and if all those of you who bear arms cross the Jordan before Yahweh, until he has driven all his enemies out before him,

22 then, once the country has become subject to Yahweh, you may go back, and will have discharged your obligation to Yahweh and Israel, and Yahweh will consider this territory yours.
Josh 22:9  Deut 3:20  Josh 22:4  Josh 1:15  Josh 13:8  2Sam 3:28  Deut 3:12-18

23 But if you do not, you will sin against Yahweh, and be sure your sin will find you out.
Isa 59:12  Gen 44:16  Gen 4:7  Isa 3:11  Ps 140:11  1Cor 4:5  Rom 2:9

24 Build towns, then, for your little ones and folds for your flocks; but do what you have promised.'
Num 32:16  Num 30:2  Num 32:34-42

25 The Gadites and Reubenites said to Moses, 'Your servants will do as my lord directs.
Josh 1:13-14

26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks and all our livestock will stay in the towns of Gilead,
Josh 1:14

27 but your servants, each armed for war, will cross in Yahweh's name and fight, as my lord says.'
Josh 4:12  2Cor 10:4-5  2Tim 4:7-8  Eph 6:10-18  Num 11:28  Num 12:11  Num 32:17

28 So Moses gave orders about them to the priest Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of families in the Israelite tribes.
Josh 1:13

29 Moses said to them, 'If the Gadites and Reubenites, all those under arms, cross the Jordan with you to fight in Yahweh's name, then, once the country has become subject to you, you will give them the territory of Gilead as theirs.

30 But if they will not cross with you under arms, they will receive their domains in Canaan with the rest of you.'
Josh 22:19

31 To this, the Gadites and Reubenites replied, 'What Yahweh has said to your servants, we shall do.

32 Under arms, we shall cross in Yahweh's name into Canaan, so that ownership of our heritage on this side of the Jordan will be ours.'

33 Moses then gave them -- the Gadites, the Reubenites and the half-tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph -- the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the country and the towns within its territory, and the country's frontier-towns.
